Referred Pain

Pain can be referred to the shoulder from trapped nerves in the neck .  This is why Osteopaths will always examine the neck area when someone complains of 'Shoulder Pain'.

Although rare, pain in the shoulder could also be referred from an an organ within the body (such as the Gall Bladder or Diaphragm) and Osteopaths will consider this if they cannot find a 'Musculoskeletal' cause of your pain.  You may be sent for further tests to confirm or rule this out.
