Osteopathy and the Law

All Osteopaths must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) in order to call themselves an Osteopath and to practice Osteopathy. It is against the law for anyone to call themselves an Osteopath who is not registered. The training to become an Osteopath is 4-5 years to Masters Degree Level and involves over 1000 hours working with patients in Clinics. Only a small number of establishments offer this training in the UK.
